Phil Garner, nicknamed "Scrap Iron", died at 76 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, teams said. The Milwaukee Brewers issued a statement saying they are saddened by his passing and sportswriter Ken Rosenthal tweeted, "Oh man. RIP Scrap Iron." Garner spent five of his 16 Major League seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1977 to 1981 and helped the club capture the 1979 World Series title.
