Heavy rainfall, flash flood risk for northern Illinois and southeast Wisconsin

The Weather Prediction Center issued a Day 4 Marginal Risk Excessive Rainfall Outlook at 06:47 UTC April 16, warning of heavy rain and likely flash flooding across northern Illinois, southeast Wisconsin, and northwest Indiana. A WPC Excessive Rainfall Discussion at 04:09 AM EDT April 16 also highlighted a separate slight risk area extending from portions of the mid-Mississippi Valley into the southern Plains. Local National Weather Service offices are prepared to issue flash flood warnings as storms produce localized heavy downpours and urban and small-stream flooding becomes possible.
