The New York Jets selected Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Bailey, WHO grew up in Orange, California and starred at Mater Dei High School, led the FBS with 14.5 sacks and a 21.3 percent pressure rate while posting 19.5 tackles for loss and 81 total pressures. Evaluators praise Bailey as a twitchy, technically polished pass rusher with an 11.9 percent havoc rate, 10.8 percent run disrupt percentage and 10.1 percent pressure percentage, traits that project to produce immediate backfield disruption. New York added Bailey to address a defense that surrendered 503 points in 2025, giving the Jets a high-end edge rusher expected to boost both pass rush and run defense right away.
