The View addresses White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting
The View devoted multiple segments to the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting, and journalist April Ryan said venue security was lacking before the event. Whoopi Goldberg rejected attempts to connect the incident to President Donald Trump's past comments about wanting a ballroom, calling that argument ridiculous. The hosts emphasized potential security gaps at high-profile political gatherings and raised broader questions about gun safety and how political actors might frame the event.
I’m increasingly coming around to the view that the guy who attacked Trump / WHCD last night was mostly [albeit not entirely] trying to commit suicide-by-cop. (rushing the Secret Service with a bunch of weapons???)
You see this a lot in the people who crash their cars into the bollards outside the White House or Capitol building, which this is fairly analogous to imo
Agree. The “manifesto” read like a deeply rationalized suicide note, complete with apologies, rather than an actual manifesto in the usual sense.
I think he just incorrectly -- but not outlandishly -- thought he was doing a good thing.
His letter sure reads that way.
from what I read, he saw his likely death as a necessary but ultimately incidental part of what he was doing which was trying to set an example (and in doing so propose a set of rules of engagement for those he hoped to inspire)
Did you not read his message that he sent to his family? He was trying to do what he felt was the only way to stop the torture and killing this administration is guilty of doing. www.newsweek.com/cole-allen-m...
He was following Ukraine war & reposting @faineg.bsky.social & he still went for guns not drones, so yeah
Clearest view of the incident at tonight’s White House correspondents dinner. CNN says that a secret service member has told them that a gunman is confirmed dead in the lobby.
Another view of the WHCA incident tonight.
That’s convenient. Another staged attempt for President Miracle Ear with no one left alive to tell the tale.
Heard on MSNow by a journalist who was there that it is *not* known the person killed had a gun.
I was cracking up..all those rich MAGAs were so traumatized by the event they were running around stealing the wine bottles off the tables. No one can convince me this wasn’t a ridiculous false flag because trump’s numbers are tanking. And the press can’t get enough of it.
Is it too much to wish for someone with aim
He didn't look too alarmed, and was smirking while the women either side showed shock. His dementia or .........? Also, did he fall when they were leading him away or were they going down some stairs?
Has anyone actually confirmed that the "gunman" had a gun??
I am so numb to the performative nature of Trump that my first thought is that this is staged to shift the narrative away from Iran, the Strait of Hormuz and the Epstein files. Which could be true!
Oh my God, somebody dropped a plate run for the hills
Pretty calm for a shooter in the house. Another staged sympathy tour?
another perp who cannot be questioned
I don't believe he was even shot once. He's in custody.
What will be missed, because of the women reacting, is Trump complete lack of comprehension of what’s going on - he’s dead behind the eyes
He probably planned this one too.
FEED NOTE: I've long taken the position that the Crooks and Routh events *weren't* staged. I've the same view of the WHCD event. Please don't comment here with stupid conspiracy theories. If you have hard, reliable, confirmed evidence, provide it. Otherwise, please don't comment.
And don't post conspiracy theories here if you lack the training to identify what constitutes hard, reliable, confirmed evidence of a staged event. One way to know if you have this training is to assess whether you hesitated while reading that first sentence—if you did, you don't.
Show ME any kind of evidence of cartilage regeneration.
Hey, he’s eroded so much trust and has proven time and time again that he is a craven asshole with no boundaries that will do anything to keep himself in power. At this point, the burden of proof is not on proving that it was staged, but rather proving that it wasn’t staged.
I think casting doubt on every single thing that happens or this admin does is a good thing. They need to be ruthlessly mocked as a result of their constant flood of lies, and treated in every instance like the boy who cried wolf.
Oh, its just good clean fun. You know, like suggesting Paul Pelosi was beaten w a hammer by a lover.
… it’s Trump and his cabal, anything is possible - staging events or at least capitalizing seems quite plausible. Add you to the high-horse brigade, you don’t need to be this prickly, man.
This administration is too incompetent to plan a conspiracy. They do their criming right out in the open.
Why wouldn’t I think this fake? Everything he does is a sham, everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie. He staged a war and he staged this too, and you know why. Trump Epstein files.
You can’t prove or deny anything. No investigations have not been conducted to disprove conspiracies. We all want the truth but it’s hard to trust dishonest people.
Until I hear direct testimony from Secet Service agents why they literally did not follow all standard protocol by allowing Trump to expose himself after gunman identified, stop to pick up his shoe and make sure he could get a photo op you aren't convincing me Butler wasn't staged.
Can I say it looked staged without hard evidence. So we can't pose a hypothesis anymore? If all investigations had to wait until they had the "smoking gun" nothing would get done. Circumstancial evidence exists for a reason. Real humans get to decide it's validity.
old guy, not a conspiracist...normally balks at conspiracy theory...but believes the current administration is completely capable of multiple conspiracies of the 'reichstag fire' genre of conspiracies (and they will be ongoing until the midterms). This one was effing planned, no doubt in my mind.
@sethabramson.bsky.social - that’s the point. When they know hard evidence is demanded, they just have to create enough confusion to make a conclusion impossible based on those Vulcan standards. We didn’t stop being human. We didn’t stop being able to sense a sham from the “other” signals. Did you?
If it wasn't staged, then the President of the United States is oblivious to his immediate surroundings and the panicked looks on the faces of everyone around him, therefore he's unfit to be president. #QED Watch how he smirks *after* shots are fired and everyone around him freaks out. 👇👇 [==*==]
In Butler why did the FBI allow him to stand and pump his fist when he could still be in danger There is also video showing security ushering the press in front right before the shooting. There was very little press follow up on this shooting
I promise not to believe any conspiracy theories if you can: a) explain how the ear cartilage grew back b) give one example of when the child rapist hasn't lied when his lips were moving.
The rumor mill is not just producing noise. The emotional reactions are clustering around authority, distrust, and contested gatekeeping. That makes the rumor ecology a visible behavioral signal of widespread distrust and legitimacy failure.
Another WHCD view: Vance dragged out first, then Trump, as Trump trips & falls during the extraction.
Interesting they took care of JD before Trump. Also they were not careful with Trump to allow him to fall to the ground.
Donald is just sitting at the table?
Is that Markwayne Mullins hiding behind the table? Familiar pose from January 6.
Hmm sort of like the fa at his fist so-called assignation attempt? I’m shocked he didn’t come up with another bloody ear. This time it didn’t work though, these agents were not bribed.
I wonder if he actually shit himself
So they took JD out *first*??? Dafuq?
[lord help me but] a view you could have that I’m seeing being elided is that it’s objectionable to attend the White House correspondents dinner and also it’s terrifying to go through a spree shooter event and thats worthy of sympathy and also perhaps a disproportionate ‘punishment’ for the offense
Reposting to ruin your life
you're gonna learn to turn replies off today
You can absolutely recognize that the experience of a spree shooter event is terrifying and generally worthy of sympathy in the abstract. However, in light of this group's galling lack of sympathy for the victims of [list of atrocities they enable], a sense of just desserts is also understandable
There was no spree shooting and the only thing they went through was hearing some gunshots then seeing the Secret Service belatedly waving guns around
A shooter reportedly opened fire in the lobby of the Washington Hilton during the WH Correspondents' Dinner last night, April 25. The gunman fired several shots in the hotel lobby & was subsequently shot dead by security forces, according to TMZ. Pres. Trump, the First Lady, and other top admin...
No he wasn’t. What are you doing?
Really embarrassing to publish this when we know the shooter is alive.
Is this a previously scheduled post? 🤔
"Instead of a traditional roasting by a comedian, the event was set to feature an Israeli mentalist...who performs mind reading demonstrations." Another red flag that this was fake. Who wants to sit through 'mindreading tricks' from an Israeli performer, when Israel does 'tricks' by the hour?
What.....how do you not know he isn't dead?
