EveryLibrary urges Congress to oppose the Federal Book Ban Bill, H.R. 7661

EveryLibrary is running an email and petition drive asking constituents to tell Congress to block H.R. 7661, a proposed federal bill that the group says would give the federal government authority to restrict access to books. EveryLibrary launched a 'Don't Let the Federal Government Regulate Your Reading' petition and a 'Stop the Federal Book Ban Bill' email campaign and says the measure is moving into committee. EveryLibrary warns that if H.R. 7661 becomes law, decisions about which titles are allowed in local libraries and schools would shift from local officials to federal authorities, which the group says threatens the freedom to read nationwide.
