U.S. strikes two Iran-flagged oil tankers in Gulf of Oman

newsMay 8, 202635259

U.S. forces disabled two empty Iranian-flagged oil tankers, SEA STAR III and SEVDA, in the Gulf of Oman, Central Command said. CENTCOM released video showing the strikes and said the tankers were attempting to sail into an Iranian port in violation of an ongoing U.S. blockade. The strikes followed exchanges of fire near the Strait of Hormuz and came amid United Arab Emirates reports of Iranian missile and drone attacks. The action raises the risk of a wider confrontation in a critical energy transit corridor and could disrupt shipping and oil flows.
