Red Flag Warnings expire across parts of Minnesota and South Dakota

newsMay 8, 20265

National Weather Service offices in Aberdeen and Grand Forks canceled Red Flag Warnings across dozens of counties in Minnesota and South Dakota, including Big Stone and Traverse in Minnesota and Brown, Clark, Codington, Day, Deuel, Grant, Hamlin, Marshall, Roberts and Spink in South Dakota. The Grand Forks office also lifted warnings covering Minnesota counties such as Clay, East Becker, East Otter Tail, Grant, Kittson, Mahnomen, Norman, Wadena, West Becker, West Marshall, West Otter Tail, West Polk and Wilkin, plus North Dakota counties including Barnes, Cass, Eddy, Grand Forks and Griggs. A national alerts overview counts 238 active U.S. weather alerts with 51 new in the past hour, and high-severity notices still include Red Flag Warnings elsewhere in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. With those Red Flag Warnings expired, immediate extreme fire weather risk and some fire restrictions have eased in the listed counties, but residents should continue monitoring forecasts because other high-severity alerts remain active regionally.
