Warhorse Studios announced it is developing an open-world Lord of the Rings RPG and a new Kingdom Come title, making the Middle-earth project official. Creators are imagining how Warhorse's hyper-realistic approach would portray Middle-earth, centering on sprawling regions like Gondor and Rohan and characters such as Aragorn alongside Kingdom Come Deliverance's Henry. The work on display ranges from polished illustrations and UI or gameplay mockups to short animatics and cosplay reinterpretations that blend Kingdom Come Deliverance's realism with Tolkien's setting. The studio says it will share further details at a later date.

So yeah, Warhorse Middle-Earth RPG confirmed. Having talked to some WH people I know, I both do and don't envy them. It's a very cool problem to tackle, but you also have to knock it out of the park. Something of that scope with the expectations of open world gameplay, it's gonna be super hard.
