If you google the "Freedom 250" label they've put on this event, the main thing you see is Kid Rock's eponymous tour. It's just barely conceivable they agreed to do an open-air festival on the mall - already pretty disqualifying given the context - then realized it would share branding with that.

Everything about Freedom 250 is just another Trump grift. My kid just got back from a Memorial weekend class trip to DC. She usually doesn’t pay a lot of attention to that sort of stuff in public, and even she said everything about it felt cheap and they didn’t even attend anything specific to it.
