ICE agent Christian Castro was arrested in Texas Friday after being charged in a Jan. 14 nonfatal shooting in north Minneapolis. Minnesota prosecutors charged Castro with four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime in connection with the shooting of a Venezuelan man that was captured on video. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said the state insists on equal justice and that nobody is above the law. The arrest, carried out with coordination between Minnesota investigators, the Texas Rangers and federal authorities, will be a key test of holding immigration officers accountable.

In the 14 shootings in MN since November, ICE agent Christian Castro is the only one facing charges out of at least 25 officers who fired their weapons — Castro fired into a Minneapolis house and injured a man during an ICE operation and lied about the crime. He was arrested today in Texas.
