Silly and playful, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE is a conscientious attempt to make a throwback blockbuster that doesn't take itself too seriously. The strategy very nearly succeeds.

Entertainment headline: "Masters of the Universe tracking to bomb this weekend..." Of course it is! It's not supposed to be a serious movie. It's campy & dumb, just like the cartoon. And I'm very excited to see what they did.
