Trump says White House UFC arena could remain permanently
President Donald Trump said the UFC arena installed on the White Lawn South Lawn 'maybe we'll never ever take it down' while promoting a UFC Fight Night scheduled for June 14 as part of the 250th anniversary events. The temporary octagonal ring and seating were erected on the South Lawn and have blocked the Marine One helicopter landing zone. Because of the obstruction, the White House halted helicopter travel and has been transporting the president by motorcade to Joint Base Andrews. Keeping the structure permanently would alter use of the South Lawn, complicate presidential travel and security protocols, and set a precedent for staging major commercial entertainment on White House grounds.
