The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act grosses $7M, Oscar eligibility questioned
The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act has grossed over $7 million at the box office since its early June 2026 theatrical release and serves as the series finale created by Gooseworx. Cartoon Contender questioned whether the film meets the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' theatrical-qualification rules for Best Animated Feature. Its $7 million performance for a niche, creator-driven property highlights growing market appetite for indie-originated animation and could affect how small-series adaptations pursue awards and wider releases.
‘The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act’ tops the Thursday box office with $7.8 MILLION from over 2,000 theaters, beating ‘Scary Movie’. The film is projected to make around $12 million throughout the opening weekend.
This is funnier than Scary Movie. lol I am glad Gooseworx is enjoys their fruit of their labor.
Extremely cool to see both this and Backrooms/Obsession blowing up But you just know that the studio suits are gonna look at this and come to the conclusion that cartoon and YouTube are big, and we're gonna get a Mr Beast animated movie lol
I don’t know anything about this movie but I despise the Scary Movie franchise so LETS GOOOO🔥🔥
Heck yeah! The Ellisons can truly suck it, given that they're so corrupt as heck!
You love to see these rather small time adventures do so well. People who gift their content free to the internet on Youtube... But then their movies do THIS well. Hollywood would love to shut this out, like they did Markiplier, but people know what they like. Keep supporting. Share the love!
My hot takes are that it wasnt a movie, it was the final episode of a TV show, and putting 8 and 9 together still isn't a movie, and it wasn't paced like a movie, and it only got ticket sales because of spoiler FOMO after 3 years of a story dragging along, and also, it was not a well written ending.
Maybe if this does well, we'll see more funding of initially free series with some freedom in vision....
#tadc #theamazingdigitalcircus oh man they went to the premiere of Pomni 2: Return of Pomni Pomni's outfit is directly referencing the ABSOLUTELY amazing fit Lizzie Freeman wore at the red carpet! it was SO GOOD!!
I'm gonna call it the Torture Tux from now on oh my god
Poor guy was in a hurry and had to choose between The Unintentional Torture Outfit or The Intentional Torture Outfit.
He does look good in sequin!!!! Theyre such goobers even in fancy attire :>
The textures in this piece are so satisfying to look at.
I HAD TO STOP MYSELF FROM SAYING POMNI PUSSY ATTACK OUT LOUD WHEN I FIRST SAW IT
God, Pomni is just beautiful here.
i love how you draw caine so much, he's so shapes, amazing art omg
I wouldn’t want to be Disney right now🤭 #TADC #Backrooms #Obsession
It's almost like people want to watch art and not regurgitated franchise blandness.
Three films created by people who originated making stuff on YouTube, all have beaten a Star Wars film in the box office Man what a time to be alive huh?
I’ve fucking loved Star Wars since I was tiny, and I haven’t been assed to go see the new movie, lol. It might be cool! But the name is annoying and honestly I’d rather watch TADC right now.
Maybe this will Cause disney to actually think about putting quality into their content Output. Unlikely but Hooo Boy Bob Iger is going to be fuming at being beaten by Indie movies.
The ass-kicking of corporate Hollywood has definitely been satisfying to witness, having seen "The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act" on its opening day.
Watch it just randomly get removed off the charts like what happened to Iron Lung when it was beating out Hollywood 👀
I'd be very interested to hear @danaterrace.bsky.social's feelings about a Glitch production knocking a Disney movie on it's ass.
Source? This is fantastic and I hope this trend continues!
I’m mad that the fucking Amazing Digital Circus made me cry in the theater
I'm still so mad that I got so emotionally overwhelmed that I passed out in a parking lot, and then had to explain to everyone that I passed out because of Amazing Digital Circus.
I guess the real dastardly tricks were the caines we met along the way
I cried multiple times...I feel ya
How was your theater experience? I'm going on tuesday and am kind of dreading what the crowd might be like.
I survived a suicide attempt a month ago and when Pomni did the thing with Jax I felt like I got hit by a truck.
that just means there was a hidden pomni in your tear ducts
Yeah it made me cry too
Me and my partner of almost 2 yeaes broke up a few months ago. It's a whole mess I don't want to get into but it boiled down to mental health issues, and There were quite a few lines in the movie that i resonated with me in that regard. So yeah i feel you i was fucking SOBBING. estrogen is great
I was doing real good about keeping it together, but there was just *one* interaction in the last 15 minutes that hit me directly where I lived. It wasn't a lot, but I definitely wasn't dry-eyed anymore.
