Postal workers decry new USPS rule tied to Trump's mail‑in voting plan

newsJun 6, 2026135,464

The American Postal Workers Union said it is 'deeply alarmed' by a new USPS rule that would restrict absentee and mail-in ballot distribution by requiring ballots be sent only to voters on federally approved lists created under President Trump's March 31 executive order. The APWU added that it 'rejects the premise' that USPS must comply with the order and warned the rule could prevent eligible voters from receiving absentee ballots. The USPS operates as an independent establishment of the executive branch under the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970, creating legal and operational questions about whether the agency can be compelled to follow the directive. If implemented ahead of upcoming elections, the rule could shrink ballot access and slow election mail for voters WHO rely on absentee voting.

If not for the backing of the Republican Party… He would not be able to carry out these laws … All Republicans are responsible for this 😡

MissyCat37

As ALL Americans should be!! 😡🤬 #FDT

Every voting rule gets described as either election security or voter suppression depending on who’s talking. The real question is whether ordinary voters end up with more obstacles between themselves and the ballot box.

Ido Amir19

That's because Trump is trying to steal the elections.

Cathleen Triplett17

I stand with the postal workers! Solidarity!

hivetool.bsky.social12

EO's are NOT laws and there is NO legal consequences for disobeying em

nojustdan.bsky.social10

You know a lot of elderly people who sit home and watch Fox News all day vote by mail.

americanplumber.bsky.social8

The White House does not directly control the US Postal Service (USPS The USPS operates as an independent establishment of the executive branch, protected from direct political control by the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970

So the USPS wants to limit which mail -originated by the state government- they deliver? Seems states would have standing in this as well.

tree-bee6

nope illegal hardest of nopes on illegality “<its> March 31 order calls for the creation of federally managed lists of citizens the administration deems eligible to vote. It also calls for the USPS to only send absentee ballots to voters on lists that states have submitted for federal approval”

Salty Mom5

I’d like to see them just ignore it. Deliver the mail like normal. What this administration has proposes is mail tampering.

Michael Corthell4

The APWU is right to be alarmed. This USPS rule risks politicizing mail delivery and restricting access to mail‑in voting, undermining a service that should remain neutral and reliable. Voting should be protected, not made harder.

Trump’s been trying to destroy US free/fair elections since pre-‘16. His lies/threats/false accusations “rigged” etc, continues to get more dangerous. His mob boss directives caused murderous mob attacks on Jan 6th. He’s pardoned hardened criminals who owe him. Every American should be fully aware!!

Trump doesn’t believe in the vision of our Founders. cbwrong.blogspot.com/2026/06/for-...

Go, Postal Workers! Who doesn't love a mail carrier!

jtickel STAND WITH UKRAINE3

postal workers much braver than our silent military

Doug3

The twisted part is tRump votes by mail-in voting...you ain't gonna tell me he's going to drag his ass to a polling station and stand in line!

Lollioness2

Even if he finds a way to inhibit mail-in voting in California, we'll find a way to overcome it. The blue districts in California are the metropolitan centers, where secure drop boxes will be easy to access. The red districts are almost all rural. They will be hurt more.

For Better or Wirsing (Eric)2

Anyone thinking there's anything wrong with how long California takes to count ballots has A) never worked the elections and/or B) needs a civics class. I would rather have accuracy than slipshod work.

The union could use a good lawyer, @marcelias.bsky.social !!

This so-called executive order is about as unconstitutional and illegal as it gets. No good reason for this other than to once again attempt to lie and steal elections during the midterms. Do us a favor traitor Republicans. Keep your dirty hands off our postal service.

Wendy Bird32

2017=Trump regime 1.0 had Louis crime boss De(no)Joy destroying sorting machines, removing mailboxes, closing post offices, ordering the slowing down of deliveries. And yet Biden won in 2020. So now Trump regime2.0 is going scorched earth on postal services

Keith A. Eddins2

Should local @indivisible.org chapters begin demonstrating in front of POs to alert the broader public to this threat?

spencerdow.bsky.social2

Postal Workers doing more to stop Trump than Congress who took an Oath to the Constitution... 1) Organized FRAUD ELLECTORS 2) Gathered an armed mob 3) Sought to overrule citizens FREE vote 4) Certified back into that Office by Congress 5) Oaths don't matter 6) He's still coming for your vote

Sarcastro2

HE. FUCKING. VOTES. BY. MAIL.

flanswanson2

yeah idk why any govt organization is taking any orders or words from our “president” seriously at this point

librahf.bsky.social2

One of Trumps many ways to sway the election, even the Postal Service doesn’t like it………

My friends at the P.O. are really miffed that they aren't allowed to postmark mail when recieved. It causes late fees and more if postmarked when it's processed. It's also a scam to hold mail-in votes until after the cutoff, with no way to prove when it hit the postoffice.

welkinatdusk.bsky.social14

How many times has Trump voted by mail? Countless times. Thats how many.

youvotedforthis2.bsky.social10

It’s a direct insult to their ability to do their jobs. He acts like they are part of the conspiracy when there actually is no conspiracy!

Linda Noel7

I'm a person who cannot go vote due to disabilities so I and my caregiver vote by mail. Why can't folks like me sue? Do we not have standing? Are we not being harmed by a questionable legal policy change? 🤔 Does it not infringe on my state's rights as well? Seems like a class action to me... AG's?

Susan loves democracy6

We need more than just alarmed.

wiseowljedi.bsky.social6

Because of Trump consider delivering your mail in ballot directly to a county recorder's office.

akeleven.bsky.social6

Congress is doing nothing to protect our public services. They've given away the US postal Service

Becca's Mullet5

So psyched to see that the Postal Workers Union is fighting back! Please let us know what we, regular citizens, can do to help!

Mind Unguent4

Don't mail your ballots. Drop them off at the county collection box. Don't let them cheat you.

Gizmoz4

Just remember, especially you MAGA adherents. President Trump doesn't want you to vote in the next elections.

kenwood48.bsky.social3

And trumps effort to steal the election rolls along.

Wnil3

Executive orders are not laws. Anyway, states administer their own elections. Trump stays away!!

Reverend Jesus "H" Christ3

"He has made his ruling. Now let him enforce it."

CatOnHotBlueRoof3

Going to my precinct to the dropoff box to deliver my ballot. Question is, will I receive ballot in time to fill it out? DeSatan in FL prob gum it up.

Finger of Fate2

If Trump's brain is deteriorating and he is not of sound mind, how can we accept his signature on a bill or pardon? Advanced frontotemporal dementia is a good reason to make null and void any executive order, pardon or bill Donald Trump has signed into law.

lurkerbluesky.bsky.social2

All because a moronic federal judge decided two weeks ago "nothing to see here, yet". Well wake the fuck up because the USPS leadership is in #DearLeader pocket

donaldo27.bsky.social2

Funny that Trump himself also voted by mail-in vote in all previous elections…

donaldo27.bsky.social2

A kind of January 6th all over again, but this time an attack on mail-in voters…

Michelle, the troublemaker2

They do not need to comply with Trump’s orders. Those are illegal orders.
