Bird Of The Day, alt theme 'Robins'
Mourning Dove. Possibly my fave birb. #birds
Setting up housekeeping in the light fixture next to my garage.
Nest in our backyard a few years ago
They have become my favorite. They’re just precious, so calm and polite.😇
Mine too. Their feathers look so soft and velvety, and I love to watch them walk across the lawn searching for seeds, with their little heads bobbing. And of course the coos!
There is one that perches on my open window sill once a week. For years…
They truly are "harmless as doves". Such darlings albeit a little slow to react. 💕
The mourning doves who enjoy our feeders are like sheep, easily startled. This morning, the doves were startled & took off so abruptly that they frightened a squirrel. Such chaos!
Morning Doves have a nest in the eaves above the window behind my desk. I love hearing them cooing.
We call them church ladies, can just imagine a little purse tucked under wing while they walk along the sidewalk
I know a smize when I see one ☺️
I like them, but they hog my bird feeders and won't let any other birds eat.
I love the sound they make. It reminds me of my childhood - I would hear them on warm summer mornings through my bedroom windows. 💗
I have a family in my courtyard 😎
Redshanks waiting for the tide to turn. #BirdOfTheDay #TheGathering #Birds
Somehow Redshanks in a Row doesn't have the same ring a Ducks in a Row.
I seem to remember an article about the Florida Bay grass flats that showed that the grass around similar poles sticking up out of the water there showed increased grass growth around the bases of the poles. Turns out the bird droppings from the roosting pole sitters was fertilizing the grass below
This is also a little blue heron. They start off white. This one is barely getting that familiar blue color. #birds #photography #birdsofbluesky
Oooh. The white really makes the bill color pop.
Love this photo! What a beauty! I love blue herons. They are such elegant birds.
#funfact: same with flamingoes the accumulated carotenoids from all of the shellfish they eat contribute to the pinkening of their plumage as they age
Ah, I raise you a black-crowned night heron!
So Rob @robcrank68.bsky.social has said: Today's #BirdOfTheDay Theme is #Geese, any breed of Geese will do, the Alt Theme is #Robins I’m always going to pick a Robin. This one is hard to spot as he’s hiding. Might take a moment to see him but he’s there. 😀 #ForJanet #birds #photography #ECK
😂 I can barely see him.
Brilliant shot Alan. 👏👏👏 Can a host be sent to the naughty step? Asking for a friend. 😊
Good Morning, Alan, that leaf certainly hid the Robin well. I almost didn’t notice that he was there.
I spotted him, took a little while!😂 Great capture Alan 😊👍
