The mourning doves who enjoy our feeders are like sheep, easily startled. This morning, the doves were startled & took off so abruptly that they frightened a squirrel. Such chaos!

I seem to remember an article about the Florida Bay grass flats that showed that the grass around similar poles sticking up out of the water there showed increased grass growth around the bases of the poles. Turns out the bird droppings from the roosting pole sitters was fertilizing the grass below

It takes some work to stay this beautiful Black-necked stilt strikes an interesting pose while doing some routine feather maintenance #birds 🌿
