Square Enix announces Final Fantasy Resonance, an HD‑2D Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy Resonance debuted during the Nintendo Direct as Square Enix's first HD-2D Final Fantasy, with a Collector's Edition announced and an October 22, 2026 release date. Artists and creators are reimagining Brave Exvius-era designs into HD-2D work, producing fully rendered key art, pixel-to-painting conversions, short animatics, comics, and cosplay concepts. a lil more info: - producer Keisuke Nakashima + director Hiroto Furuya love FFV and it shows - Team Asano advised - story is an adaptation of Brave Exvius' first season with new unique story stuff, everything else built from the ground up - said to be 30-40 hours mainline, 60-80 for completionists

Final. Fantasy Resonance is what every mobile game should do when it sunsets as a live service; Take all the viable content and create one last off-line, console worthy traditional game without any of the gacha and stamina bs that drives people like me away.

The ultimate Nomura gag is that the trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 shown during the Nintendo Direct is different from the one published independently by Square Enix and appears to be a more polished build, so we really have no fucking clue how close KH4 is to release
