Star Fox demo out for Switch 2, players praise controls and visuals
Nintendo released a playable Star Fox demo for Switch 2; early players praised the demo's smooth flight controls, vibrant graphics, and charming team dialogue. Other players called the remake's voice acting its weakest element compared with the gameplay. Some players singled out audio design on the Meteo stage, saying the new sounds match the levels' hectic scale. The demo's polish on core mechanics and visuals has heightened anticipation for the full release and suggests the remake could reset expectations for the Star Fox series.
I played the Star Fox demo and I really, really liked it! No joke, I went from "Alright, I'm gonna get this game to support the series" to "Wow, this is super well done and I'm excited!" The devs feel like they really care about this game and that makes me so incredibly happy. 💚
I DO have nitpicks here and there and this is still not the game I was really wanting. But I still had fun with it and want to see more of it.
I was worried the characters wouldn't translate well to a more cinematic game, but the devs really doubled down on those goobers' personalities. I laughed so hard when Falco voided the warranty on the simulator.
I’ve only ever really played Star Fox Adventures and Assault but the production values on this new game is excellent. I’m not good at it but I had fun. Still not sure if I want to get the game though. I’ll have to think on it and maybe try the demo again
You could also just play through 64 on NSO! I’d certainly be interested in hearing your thoughts on it
It's excellent and the choice to have it be Meteo was the right choice doing the warp in the stage is kinda magical. The regular boss was good too
Star Fox is one of those games that only gets crazier and more fun as you get better at it. You get to see so many more level options and shenanigans you can pull off; played SF64 to death back when it came out.
someone playing Adventures and Assault but not 64 is rare but a welcome change
I played the Star Fox demo and honestly it kind of turned me off on the game. It plays the same as the original game. Has the same topography, the same feel. It's just that there's more stuff going on in the background to give the world the illusion that it's alive.
But it's hobbled by the fact that the game follows the same rails as the original. Like yeah the graphics are great but that doesn't mean shit when my muscle memory still recognizes the gameplay loop. At this point I'm buying the game for extra cutscenes, which haven't been groundbreaking so far.
This is my major concern. For me, I dream of a space-BotW. A mix of GameCube starfox and the og space fighting sim. No reason it can't be both, I'm looking at No Man's Sky when I think about it.
Ive been 50/50 on it bc im tired of remakes and remasters but if its really just. The same car with new paint I don't feel like im missing out by skipping it
I personally wanna get it since I’ve never played Star Fox besides Adventures and Assault when I was a kid, both of which I didn’t get very far in.
