Nintendo Direct, June 9: Kingdom Hearts IV, Ocarina remake and Xenoblade
Nintendo Direct...man. If you're someone that has never owned any other platform aside from Switch, there was great stuff, but for me, it was one of the least interesting Directs since the format began. Certainly the least exciting showcase of this summer reveal season.
John Linneman125I think one of the issues is that I used to be excited by the idea of having portables versions of traditionally console games but (I'm sorry, I swear) since the Switch 2 screen is so awful, I can't really enjoy it in portable mode at all right now so it kills that interest ha ha.
Chris Smith5100% agree. I can’t believe how few NEW games Nintendo have coming to Switch 2. Sports Resort, Fire Emblem and Xenoblade Genesis and that’s it right? The other two games they have announced for Switch 2 are N64 remakes.
IrishNinjⒶ5that was kinda my take too - deltarune was a highlight for me, and the confirmation on OoT was neat i think seeing stuff we knew about (more rhythm heaven, some dq monsters info) grabbed my attention more than the ports - though i was hoping for a more solid date on belmont's curse
Luke3For me it was disappointing as I have a Switch 2 for Nintendo titles (got a PC and PS5 Pro for the other titles and I play on the TV, not handheld) but that proper Ninty magic was missing this time. OoT and Starfox should be great, but I played them nearly 30 years ago. I wanted something new!

KZ63A new strategy a lot of YouTubers including Nintendo-focused ones have found is to pretend to be a business strategist. Easier to keep people from dogpiling your "I hate JRPGs, I like Mario" takes if you deliver it like "These are good games, but Nintendo's big picture strategy seems flawed"

Love how people still call the showcases with mostly games not for them "awful." Sure, you didn't walk away with things you're hyped about. But do you know how many people I've seen be hyped about Ocarina of Time??? That new Fire Emblem? Kingdom Hearts 4? The showcase was for them. Not just you.

Darth CPA Imperial Accountant2The Direct was fine. Lots of RPGs and some good ports. I think the main disappointment is how hard Third Parties are carrying the Switch 2 right now. Donkey Kong was great and I’m looking forward to Star Fox. But beyond that Nintendo has been very whelming.

Brandon Hargus2I honestly found the Direct kind of boring. The only two games that seemed interesting to me were Ocarina of Time and Xenoblade. There just isn't enough that could justify for me to buy a Switch 2.
