world cup hydration breaks are being used for commercials. disappointing but entirely predictable takes away one of my favorite things about watching soccer on television — two 45ish-minute commercial free halves of competition

It’s the entire rationale for them! If it wasn’t you’d only have them in certain games where the climate requires it. As it stands if it’s 12 degrees and wet they’ll stop to have a hydration break.

The Telemundo World Cup broadcast is superior to the Fox Broadcast in every imaginable sense— commentary, commercials, camera angles, the actual streaming resolution, sound engineering, etc.
