The National Weather Service issued Red Flag Warnings Friday across the U.S. West, covering Kittitas Valley and the Tri-Cities in Washington, the Okanogan Valley, central and lower Columbia Basin areas of Oregon, and multiple forecast zones in Colorado and Nevada. NWS Denver warned six Colorado zones for Saturday with west winds 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph, and mountain areas reported relative humidity falling to 9 to 15 percent. Some warnings were canceled where conditions eased, such as parts of the Klamath Basin and the Sierra Front, while other offices upgraded Fire Weather Watches to Red Flag Warnings for additional valleys and desert zones. Officials have imposed burn bans and watering restrictions in drought-stricken communities, so any spark or fireworks could quickly ignite large wildfires that threaten homes, crops and infrastructure.
