Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 14th minute on his 100th France cap, giving France a 1-0 lead. The goal was his 15th at World Cups, tying Brazil's Ronaldo for third on the men's World Cup all-time scorers list behind Lionel Messi (18) and Miroslav Klose (16). At 27 and playing his third World Cup, Mbappé's scoring pace already positions him to challenge Klose and Messi for the tournament's top marks if he keeps up his form.
