sportsJun 27, 202645668

George Russell set a 1:06.113 to claim pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring after Max Verstappen crashed in the final seconds of qualifying. Charles Leclerc qualified second and Lewis Hamilton third, forming a front three of Russell, Leclerc and Hamilton for race day. Verstappen crashed out in Q3 and will start further down the order, with Red Bull preparing a spare chassis after the impact. Stewards reviewed Russell's lap amid yellow flag confusion, deleted one in‑lap time for double waved yellows but confirmed Russell keeps the pole and announced no further investigation. The outcome reshuffles the grid and leaves Red Bull working to repair Verstappen's car ahead of tomorrow's race.
