Bird of the Day, theme 'Best Of June26'
One of half a dozen bald eagles spotted on Blake Island while boating around it this weekend, Puget Sound, Washington #Birds #Eagles #BirdOfTheDay #BestOfJune26 #PugetSound #PNW #Boating #Photography #Trees #BlakeIsland #MinimalMonday #Nature
In 1980 my wife and I flew to Washington State for our vacation. We also visited our old landlord. We arrived in the middle of June, about a month after Mt St Helens erupted. Because of all of the volcanic dust, we had to stay on the Olympic Peninsula. While there we saw a great many bald eagles.
Majestic kings of the sky!
Always a thrill to see them, IMO. Cool.
Wow, thank you Andrea for sharing this picture. They are so beautiful and regal. I love this picture.
Isn’t it glorious?! Watch and listen for the Puget Sound Ospreys, too.
Rob @robcrank68.bsky.social has said that: “ Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BestOfJune26, whatever bird capture you deem your best from the month of June.” Rob told me he likes unedited captures so in honour of his day. Straight out of the camera. Just border added. #birds #photography #ECK
Beautiful capture Alan, Warblers don't need editing to show off their beauty.
Looks great Alan (as always!)
Minimal or no editing is great. Beautiful shot
This is a beauty Alan ❤️
Pfffffttttt, who listens to that bloke with the fake, blow-up Puffins... 😜😁 Nicely done, as always, Alan.
Lovely shot and probably as good a shot as anyone could get of this one. It likes tucking itself away in amongst this reeds

Farne Islands, April 2026. And the reason Daughter no.1 took herself off to Scotland (from Melbourne!) to get married. (sound up for 'oh no!' dialogue. 😄)
😂 Bloody Donna sucked me right in with her cuteness then started shooting. 😂 Fabulous set of captures again Rob. Great theme.
Thank you I hadn't realised that @tophilllow.bsky.social was on here. My best of June is from the Morecambe Bay Hides -yesterday These are from the Allen Hide

A photo for #MacroMonday and #BirdofTheDay #BestofJune26 Can you tell whose these huge feet belong to?😁🧐 In any case, they kept me awake last night. They’re quite noisy birds 🙄🙄 Info in Alt #birds #birding #BirdsSeenIn2026 #Germany #wildlife #photography #nature #thelittlethings #ECK #closeup
Those are lovely legs. On that topic, our partridge has four feet 😉
Cool!! Coots have the craziest looking feet. The ones near us have vivid blue feet. I'm still trying to get a good pic as they mostly stay in the water.
To someone on high sodium diet 😉
Mir fällt Blesshuhn gerade nicht auf englisch ein. 😅 Happy Monday, Rina. 🌞
Haven't a clue. And I'm happy I don't.
A Yellow-legged Pterodactyl? A monster!
When magpies trust you they communicate this by not flying away when you approach, or like these two by following me. Their playful curiosity make every encounter feel like a small gift of nature. 💙💙 #BirdOfTheDay #BestOfJune26 #Corvids #birds #photography #EastCoastKin
Wonderful that you have this relationship with these beautiful magpies Thanks for sharing this beautiful photo 😊❤️🙏🕊️
Had something similar. A pair would come when I whistled for snacks. They get very trusting. Funny birds to watch I have seen them teasing foxes and hanging next to a red kite feeding!
Wow! You must have done something right because they are so cautious of people. (Can’t blame them…)
Beautiful photo of your Magpie friends!
#Connect2Nature #BirdoftheDay #Birds Haven't had my camera out much as I recover from cancer treatment, but I did get out this month and captured this Red Necked Grebe by its nest. There will be chicks here soon. #BestBirdsofJune
Sorry to hear about your cancer treatment, but that's a great shot.
What a nice photo. The nest. 😆
Building a nest in a tire? That's brilliant.
Sorry to hear that, hope you make a full recovery soon. Great shot. 👏👏
Recovery takes time, but you'll get there.
After they breed will they retire for a second brood?
Rob says #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BestOfJune26 Wait, June is almost over already? (And it's 2026?!) I didn't even get to photograph any birds. Except this one through the window to ID. One I hadn't seen around before. (Answer in alt for non-pros). For a noisy crop, it is not my worst!
This non pro never would have guessed. Now I know! 😉
what cool coloring, with that yellow and charcoal!!
Mom: I mean, little brown birds with yellow spots on them could be anything. There are soooo many of them! It could be a warbler. Maybe a thrush? Or a goldfinch. Okay, it's a finch or a warbler! Finch or a warbler. Me: It's a baby robin. Mom: Oh, fuck me!!!
