The Philadelphia 76ers acquired five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics in a trade that sent Paul George and draft capital to Boston, sources told NBC Sports Philadelphia. Sixers president of basketball operations Mike Gansey agreed the deal, and ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported it. Brown, 29, was All-NBA Second Team last season after averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists, and his final game as a Celtic was Boston’s Game 7 loss to Philadelphia in the first-round playoff series. The move pairs Brown with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey to add a high-usage scorer who can create offense and defend on-ball, attributes NBC Sports Philadelphia highlighted as bolstering Philadelphia’s title chances. Spotrac projects Brown’s salary at about $57.1 million next season, $61 million in 2027-28 and $65 million in 2028-29. Paul George, 36, played 79 games across two seasons in Philadelphia after signing a four-year, $212 million contract in summer 2024 and served a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy; the Celtics will also receive multiple draft picks. The trade follows Boston’s failed pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo and represents a major roster shakeup that immediately reshapes both teams’ championship outlooks.
