Turner Classic Movies’ Summer of Darkness festival includes Jules Dassin’s Thieves' Highway (1949) in tonight’s TCM Party watch-along; the film is scheduled at 12:45 a.m. ET (9:45 p.m. PT). The film stars Richard Conte, Valentina Cortese and Lee J. Cobb and follows a veteran who seeks revenge after his father is crippled by a mob-connected produce distributor. Summer of Darkness is curated and hosted by Eddie Muller, who programmed 23 of the 25 titles from his “Endless Night: 25 Noir Films that Will Stand the Test of Time,” substituting two unavailable films with other favorites. The festival runs Friday nights in June and July except June 19, with this month’s entries drawn from 1940s noirs to illustrate the genre’s development.
