Bird of the Day’s prompt is #PerfectPoise, a daily theme asking for images where balance and posture tell a story. Contributors are posting elegant, regal and narrative poses, from small songbirds frozen mid-stretch to stately raptors and herons holding a commanding stance. A Willow Warbler hangs almost upside down from a strand of blue-green barbed wire as it searches for tiny insects among the seed heads and leaves of a wild hedgerow plant. Bathed in warm sunlight, its olive-green upperparts, pale yellow face, creamy underparts, and fine orange-brown bill are shown in crisp detail. The bird’s dark eye is intently focused on the vegetation, capturing a moment of agile insect hunting. A softly blurred green background isolates the scene, emphasising both the willow warbler’s remarkable acrobatic balance and the contrast between the delicate songbird and the weathered farm fence.

A snow-white peacock stands very elegantly, holding itself upright, and is looking to the left. The feathers on its upper body are very bushy, as if it were wearing bloomers, whilst its tail feathers look like a long train.
