The Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Chase Burns agreed to a seven-year, $105 million contract extension, a league source told The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, with MLB Network’s Jon Morosi first reporting the deal. The guarantee contains no options or deferrals and will keep Burns under team control through the 2033 season. Burns, 23, was an All-Star this year in his second big league season and is 11-1 with a 2.54 ERA in 18 starts in 2026 after 13 appearances in 2025. The contract is the largest ever given to a pitcher with less than four years of major league service time and is the biggest pitching guarantee the Reds have made since Homer Bailey’s six-year, $105 million deal signed before 2014. Cincinnati now controls Burns alongside fellow starters Hunter Greene and Andrew Abbott, locking up multiple young starters through at least 2029 while other rotation pieces such as Nick Lodolo and Brady Singer approach free agency. Burns previously set a signing bonus record as the No. 2 pick out of Wake Forest in 2024 when he received a $9.25 million bonus.
