God of War to recast Kratos after Ryan Hurst injury

tvJul 17, 202634345

Prime Video will recast Kratos in its live-action God of War series after actor Ryan Hurst tore a bicep performing a stunt on set in late June and subsequently underwent surgery, Deadline reports. Production concluded Hurst's rehabilitation timeline was too long for the schedule and decided to replace him, with at least four finished episodes slated for reshoots. Deadline first reported the recast decision while Kotaku and Insider-Gaming also covered the injury and production changes. TMZ reported filming has halted and may not resume until 2027 as the series reorganizes its lead and reworks completed material. Hurst is recovering from surgery but will not continue in the role, and Prime Video has begun searching for a new actor to play Kratos. The recast forces the series to redo already-shot scenes and delays the production timetable for the high-profile adaptation.
