EU border system tripling passport control wait times, airport boss says
Hard Brexit has led to misery and missed flights for thousands of British travellers this summer. And it's about to get a lot worse with the rush. Don't get caught out, and don't forget who to blame... spoiler, it's not the EU that is just "protecting its borders" www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Gove told us "absolutely nothing would change". Why is he never held to account. Why does no one ever address the multi faceted issues that impacts those who had exercised their right of FOM & had no vote, no voice. And now their children are struggling with the ensuing chaos. #HoldGovetoaccount
I wonder how many Daily Mail readers know that the EES system that is ‘punishing them’ was first proposed (& supported by the UK) in 2014, when we were in the EU?
The EU EES system actually works fine, as we are now able to spot ‘overstayers’ that stay in EU for more than 90 days a lot better. Waiting times of 20-30 minutes are not bad (in the US its one hour) and will decrease once the usual burn-in problems are solved.
I believe back when we were an EU member, the UK (under the Tories) were strong supporters of the development of these new EU border controls.
Actually, it is the EU in this case. They rolled out a system that does not work and they did so even though they were told time and again that it did not work. It's not just UK travellers being affected. It's travellers from across the world and many EU companies and the EU citizens they employ.
How have those pesky Europeans still not realised that we hold all the cards?
Don't forget to wave from the back of the #FarageQueue at all the people sailing past with no delay because they come from sane countries that didn't put their freedom of movement in the bin.
Anyone with recent experience of this in Berlin and Frankfurt?
Nobody could have predicted this.
I'm a keen traveller but haven't been anywhere because this would just drive me over the edge!!!! #RejoinEU
This is the mirror image of what frontline-to-Brexit EU states such as Ireland and the Netherlands experienced for goods & food from GB, the first few months were chaotic (UK side largely gave up on the food side as they had failed to plan ahead, I don't think Irish food has ever faced inspection?)
Protecting its borders as we (the UK) urged it to do before storming off in a sulk and taking our ball with us. bsky.app/profile/otto...
Did you hear that Andy?
