Bird of the Day is running the theme Red Or Dead, asking for photos with red in the capture but not on the bird or images of birds on bare winter branches. Submissions show migratory summer visitors and winter scenes, with photographers sharing stilled shorebirds, backyard songbirds, and landscape shots that place birds against red foliage or berries. Concrete entries include European white storks arriving in spring, an Eastern Bluebird perched in Northeast Ohio winter cold, and a great egret shot in front of poinsettias.
