Arsenal have signed Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United for £75 million, the 28-year-old joining the Premier League champions on a four-year deal with the option of a further 12 months. Guimarães said he “needed a new challenge in my life” and that leaving Newcastle was one of the “toughest decisions” of his life as he targets trophies in north London. He left Newcastle's training camp in La Manga to finalise the move and revealed messages of welcome from teammates including defender Gabriel and midfielder Declan Rice. Guimarães joined Newcastle in January 2022, captained the side that won the 2025 EFL Cup, the club's first major domestic trophy in seven decades, and helped them qualify for the Champions League in 2023 and 2025 before Newcastle finished 12th last season. Reports say Arsenal persisted with the transfer despite Newcastle's reluctance to sell, making Guimarães one of the biggest signings of Mikel Arteta's era.
