Today's Bird of the Day theme is NoBranchWood, any bird perched on wood that is not a branch, with an alternate theme BBirdName for birds whose common name starts with B. Submissions show birds using manmade and natural wooden perches: fence posts, a wooden jetty, dock planks, and tree trunks. Standout examples include a linnet on a wooden fence, a white wagtail posed on a wooden jetty, and a pileated woodpecker clinging to a tree trunk. Expect other concrete scenes such as a male red-winged blackbird on a fence post and a wren on a post, all following the NoBranchWood constraint and the BBirdName alternate hashtag.

Hi Dave, what a beautiful photo. Just a couple of years ago. I noticed we also have here in the city I live, the Red-wing blackbird. I’m sure they’ve been here all along, but I’d just recently noticed them. I immediately looked them up to see what they were called. They’d visit my birdfeeder.
