Bird of the Day is a daily community theme with today’s prompt #BirdInABush and an alternate #FlyingHigh, inviting images of birds hidden in hedges or soaring overhead. Gallery entries focus on small bush-dwelling passerines and dramatic flight shots, from intimate juvenile birds tucked into brambles to wide-angle scenes of raptors aloft. Look for a young long-tailed tit perched in a bush, a formation of Sandwich Terns credited to the alt theme Flying High, and a sea eagle clutching part of a herring over the waters of Vestfjorden, Lofoten, Norway, August 2026. A juvenile Common Whitethroat perched on a bramble stem in a bramble hedge. The bird is left of centre of frame, looking right so that its front and right side are visible.
The bird has a grey/brown head and dark eye with a faint pale eyebrow stripe. Its back is grey-brown, turning to rufous at the wings. It has the customary white throat with a pink-grey wash on the breast and underbelly.
The bird is perched in a hollow in the bramble hedging with bright sunshine highlighting its head, breast and upper wings.

This image shows shows a sea eagle in flight in front of the misty, rocky islands of the Lofoten Archipelago in Norway. The eagle appears in the middle third of the image vertically and just to the right of center horizontally, flying from right to left with its wings fully spread. We have an excellent view of the details of the brown feathers of its body, wings, head and tail. Patches of white feathers appear here and there as well. Its beak is mostly yellow and sharply hooked, and its yellow claws trail below it carrying a piece of herring it has grabbed from the fjord below. In the background, part of a misty, rocky island descends from left to right in the lower left corner of the frame, colored dark grey and green. The image is completed by mist and clouds that appear in the upper right.
