Bird of the Day is a daily community theme; today’s prompt is Rainy Day Birds, any bird photographed in the rain or with wet plumage, with Sunny Day Birds as the alternative. The gallery today features wet passerines, shorebirds, and waterfowl captured mid-splash or dripping after showers, often shot at forest edges and coastal sites. Standout examples include a Black oystercatcher in a drizzle at Asilomar State Beach, a young male Rose-breasted Grosbeak in the rain on the Bruce Peninsula, and a wet Northern Cardinal visiting a feeder after heavy rain. The bird has a bright yellow bill and eye ring, the rest of its plumage is jet black, with a slight greying on the flight feathers.
It is sitting on a dead elder tree, the tree has four branches which spread from the centre stem. The two to the right travel along the bottom of the frame, the bird is on the upper one. The two to the right travel diagonally to encompass the left hand side of the shot.
It is teeming rain, the drops can be seen frozen in the air as they fall and droplets can be seen on the birds plumage.
In the background the forest edge is out focus, giving a green background with pale-grey throughout from the falling rain

A male Kingfisher perched on a dull brown post that’s dotted with small fungal growth, in the bottom left of the picture. The Kingfisher’s body is tilted forward, his black beak at 45 degree angle. His bright orange front is dulled by the angle of the sun, but his amazing blues are sparkling. The reeds and light in the background have blurred to a greenish yellow hue and give off all the characteristics of the warm beautiful day that it was.

Alan have set the themes for #BirdOfTheDay this day for #RainyDayBirds birds in the rain and the Alt #SunnyDayBirds birds in the sun. We have had some rain but not enough for a bird in the rain. So I go for the Alt with this young Moor hen if i am good🤔

You see here a young moorhen looking to his own faces that is reflected in the wayer. The water have riples from its mother outside the frame. Reed is al around it.
