The Italian Grand Prix takes place this weekend at Monza, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, which has hosted more Formula 1 races than any other circuit. Monza has staged grands prix in all but one year since the inaugural 1950 season, the sole absence coming in 1980 for renovations. Located in a royal park and surrounded by woodland, the circuit is known as the cathedral of speed and is the spiritual home of Ferrari and the tifosi. Monza was where the first world championship was decided 76 years ago and last year Max Verstappen set the fastest lap in F1 history during qualifying. Across its history the venue has been the scene of thrilling finishes, Ferrari triumphs, title clinches, controversy and tragedy, and BBC has published a selection of images capturing those Monza moments.
