This image shows a mist-shrouded lake bordered by two stands of trees, and with floating dock. One stand of trees appears on the right edge of the frame, and the other on the left. Both sets of trees appear in the middle third of the frame vertically and extend roughly one third of the way in from the left and right edges. The water of the lake is perfectly still, so that the dark green trees and shore are mirrored almost perfectly in the surface of the water. The surface of the water appears just below halfway up the frame; above the water and trees the image is filled with mist, which partially obscures the trees as well. The image is finished by the appearance of a floating dock and its reflection on the middle left edge, just below the stand of trees.

Sunrise comes quietly to Bowman Lake, almost hidden behind the weather. A low ceiling of cloud settles deep into the valley, erasing the higher mountains and leaving only dark, forested ridges reaching toward one another across the water. The lake is nearly motionless, holding the shadowed timber and pale morning sky in long, softened reflections. A thin veil of mist lies just above the surface, while farther up the valley the mountains disappear completely into cloud. There is no brilliant sunrise here—no blaze of orange or gold—only a gradual gathering of light, turning fog, water, forest, and distant slopes into shades of silver and charcoal. It is Bowman Lake at its most elemental

A tall brown mushroom standing alone in a very dark forest. Can't tell the species as so many small brown mushrooms look like this. A very busy day with lots of people walking the trails so I escaped into the dark dense part of the woods where it's easy to get lost. It took many visits to figure out a way through this part but it pays off on a busy weekend when you need some peace and quiet.
