Bird of the Day, theme 'Herons & Egrets'

Bird of the Day is a daily community event with today’s theme Herons & Egrets, alternate theme Borbs for round, chubby-looking birds. Contributors are posting bird photography and field shots focused on herons and egrets in feeding, flying, and reflective poses, plus playful borb entries. Concrete examples include a Grey Heron on a riverbank, a black-crowned night heron, a great blue heron appearing to play with a golden ball of light, a bare-throated tiger-heron from Costa Rica stalking a boat-dock, and a cattle egret foraging white on green. Look through the gallery for hunting and fishing scenes, flypasts, paired snowy and great egrets reflecting together, and borb entries like a fluffy red-browed finch or a round common pheasant.

It hand along, sharp, orange beak, darker on top near the head. I had a white head with a large, dark stripe across the eye, ending is a crest at the back of the head. Its neck is tucked into its body and is a greyish white. Its back and wings are a light grey, with a darker grey at the edges of the wings. Its legs and tail are obscured by a mound of exposed riverbed in the foreground. The background is of the river, which has a brown tinge but is clear enough to see a sandy bottom near the bird, darker elsewhere.
