tvSep 18, 202637718

The BBC published an invitation to tender for production of Doctor Who, seeking a supplier to produce a multi-episodic series including specials for transmission in 2028/29, with a BBC option to extend for a second series. The contract is offered on a work for hire basis with the BBC retaining all rights and continuing to broadcast the programme. The production must qualify as a regional production under two of the three Ofcom regional criteria and the successful bidder must establish a production base in the agreed region; the BBC has a preference for Wales qualification. Initial submissions of eligibility information must be sent via Microsoft Forms by 2pm on 2 October 2026. The BBC says the tender is part of its Charter commitment to open more content to competition and to strengthen production across the UK. Suppliers requiring help on the tender were directed to contact the BBC's Competitive Tendering team by email.

Border Television is bidding for the Doctor Who gig. Ian Krankie as the Doctor, with Jimmy as the sweet-natured sidekick. Charlie Cairoli as the Master. Lots of wonderful vistas of the lakes, Keswick and Border Television's car park.
