Bird of the Day, theme 'Raptors'

Bird of the Day is a daily photo prompt set by Atlantic Birding with today’s theme Raptors, alternate theme Corvids. Contributors are sharing bird-of-prey sightings and close-up corvid portraits, often captured while perched, hunting, or in flight. Notable entries include a sparrowhawk that tried to snatch a nuthatch from a woodland log pile, a red-tailed hawk basking on a coffee-shop roof, and a kestrel that landed on a Marrakesh rooftop. Other posts show a juvenile sea eagle perched on a rock by a Norwegian fjord and a Carrion Crow photographed in Cheshire.

A Common Buzzard perched on a dead tree in the pouring rain. The bird is right of centre of the shot, with its back turned to the camera but its head turned around to stare at it.
The bird has a brown head, paler around the bill, which is black and hooked. It has a yellow cere above the beak. Its back is a lightly mottled brown, darker as it gets to the tail.
The tree is fully dead with patches of bark missing along the trunk and branches. The trunk travels up along the right hand side of the frame and a horizontal branch, with multiple side branches, holds the buzzard. Another, smaller branch is jutting out above it.
The rain is heavy and large drops can be seen throughout the shot. It gives the shot a hazy appearance. The background is an out of focus wall of trees leaves.

Love the jay, as I only have 2 pictures of them ,both in Spain but not the best ones, and not a bird we see around here, so great capture. Will be back in Europe next month so hoping 🤞🏻
