Olly Robbins told MPs that Downing Street pressured him to find an ambassadorship for Matthew Doyle, and he said he felt "quite uncomfortable" repeatedly advising that such a posting would be hard to defend. Matthew Doyle, WHO was awarded a peerage by Sir Keir Starmer, was suspended from the Labour party after links emerged between Doyle and Sean Morton, WHO was convicted of possession of indecent images of children. Sir Keir told Prime Minister's Questions that Doyle did not give a "full account" over those links, and Robbins, the sacked Foreign Office chief, said he is giving evidence about the pressure and a "dismissive" No 10 attitude toward vetting including of Lord Mandelson.
