Día del Libro, April 23 book fairs and Sant Jordi traditions

On April 23 Spain and Spanish-speaking communities observed Día del Libro and Sant Jordi with street book fairs, public readings and solidarity rose sales, including a partnership with Fundació Portolà. Authors Arantxa Murillo and Iris Torrente appeared on the EIIPOD program to discuss their new books, organizers circulated recommended reading lists, and groups shared the Catalan poem "Les roses recordades" by Salvador Espriu. Local gatherings ranged from afternoon book stalls to a Martorelles celebration at Plaça de l’Envelat and La Vinya starting at 17:00, blending cultural celebration with fundraising for social projects.
