An Israeli strike killed Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil, 43, at her home in the southern village of Tayri on April 23; rescuers recovered her body from rubble hours after the attack. The strike wounded a photographer WHO accompanied Khalil and pushed the day's death toll to five, the deadliest day since a 10-day ceasefire began on April 16. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called the killing a "blatant war crime" and said Lebanon will pursue legal accountability, and al-Mayadeen identified Khalil as a reporter covering southern Lebanon.
