I saw a complaint that the cast of the new Netflix Scooby Doo cast is "too old for their roles" (most of the actors are around 20) and I realized something: as a child, it never even crossed my mind that the Scooby Gang weren't grown-ass adults. Like even when they called them "meddling kids".

The cool thing about Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated is that the show decides to situate the gang in a town that is running a tourism scam, so the kids all slowly learn their parents are all con artists pretending to be ghouls and ghosts to spook tourists. I’ll never get over that clever tweak

They already made this. At least 3 times in fact. A Pup Named Scooby Doo, the live action movie The Mystery Begins, and Mysteries Inc. was also an origin story.

I will choose to be excited about the SCOOBY-DOO: ORIGINS series until such time as it proves unworthy. But for now, I'm really looking forward to it. In this hideous era, I'm happy to embrace the things I loved in my childhood.

On paper, the cast seems fine? Even if this does look a bit cheap. But why is it called "Origins" when they're the correct age range for the characters as they originally appeared in Scooby Doo, Where Are You? They were teenagers. These are clearly teens/early 20s.
