Communities across the United States marked Arbor Day 2026, observed on the last Friday in April, with coordinated tree plantings and public ceremonies. The Delaware Forest Service held regional observances emphasizing trees' role in improving air and water quality and community well-being. Several sites honored Moon Trees grown from seeds carried on Apollo 14, including a Douglas fir raised from astronaut Stuart Roosa's seed and a second-generation American sycamore planted at the NCAR Mesa Lab. The White House issued its annual Arbor Day message urging more tree planting to cool cities, sequester carbon, and strengthen communities.
