Gerry Conway has sadly passed away at the age of 73. He co-created the Punisher, Ben Reilly, Jackal, Man-Wolf and the first Ms. Marvel. He also wrote one of the most iconic comic book stories in history — “The Night Gwen Stacy Died”

Gerry Conway has passed at 73. He leaves an incredible legacy. Co-creator of Punisher, Power Girl, Firestorm, Killer Croc, Jason Todd, Ms. Marvel. He also wrote a lot of tv including Law & Order. Best remembered for The Night Gwen Stacy Died? Probably? My condolences to his family and friends.

Gerry Conway has died at the age of 72. He started writing Amazing Spider-Man at 19; the same age as Peter Parker. I doubt anyone will match that record. Rest in peace, Gerry, and thanks for keeping me guessing all through the Jackal saga. #comics

Deeply saddened to hear that we've lost Gerry Conway. Rightly celebrated for creating characters like The Punisher, not to mention the impact of The Night Gwen Stacy Died, but for me he will always be the guy who wrote the third comic book I ever bought with my own money.

Marvel has just announced that legendary comic book writer Gerry Conway has passed away at the age of 73. Sending my deepest condolences to Gerry's family and friends.

Sad news: Gerry Conway, the comic book writer who co-created dozens of characters for Marvel and DC - The Punisher, Ms. Marvel, Power Girl, Firestorm, among others - and wrote some of the most defining Spider-Man stories of all time, has passed away at age 73.

This is sad. Gerry Conway I knew personally, although not well. I spent some conventions with him, and he was always a delight. Sharp witted and funny. He seemed to really enjoy the life me made. 73 is far too young.

Gerry Conway co-created Marvel Dracula, objectively the best Dracula, and just for that he'd be GOATed.

Gerry Conway is perhaps the only creator whose influence on the Spider-Man mythos you could claim stands shoulder to shoulder with Stan, Steve and John's. His stories are still felt to this day in Spider-Man and beyond with so many landmark issues. RIP Gerry Conway. You will be missed ❤️🕸️

Damn. Conway wrote so many great books. A ton o Spiey of course (includ the FIRST spidey/superman crossover!) but also co-started Firestorm, Justice League Detriot (I unironically love it) and other JLA, a bunch of Batman. Huge legacy left behind.

Gerry Conway was a huge part of that second generation of Marvel writers, who alongside contemporaries like Marv Wolfman and Len Wein, not only showed how many stories the original line-up of characters had in them, but also added so many new characters to the toy box. And did the same at DC. RIP.
