King Charles III begins four-day U.S. state visit
King Charles III and Queen Camilla began a four-day state visit to the United States on April 28, 2026, and were welcomed at the White House by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. Charles addressed a joint session of Congress the same day, invoked the Magna Carta, and called for "unyielding resolve" in support of Ukraine. The visit, timed to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, includes meetings with U.S. tech leaders and a ceremonial state dinner. With public strains in the UK and US special relationship after recent tensions between the leaders, his address and meetings aim to spotlight shared security and climate priorities and to rebuild the alliance.
King Charles: I cannot help noticing the readjustments to the East Wing. I'm sorry to say that we British of course made our own small attempt at real estate redevelopment of the White House in 1814.
Trump has no idea what that joke means.
He’s been throwing shade in every speech in the most polite, cheeky way
All us social studies teachers...
All I can see when I look at this picture is that fcuking gold eagle on the podium! TFG ruins everything!
Trump has no idea why King Charles is referring to 1814.
What better person to troll the wannabe king than the actual king of England? At an official visit. 😊
Canada here. We clocked that reference.
Trump totally didn’t get it. Karoline probably had to explain it to him later
Lest that be a lowkey warning lol
In case anybody hasn't googled it, the British burned the White House down in 1814. In the last 212 years, Donald Trump has blamed Joe Biden for it four times and Obama for it three times... 🙄
For all the things I’ve said over the years about the British monarchy - they’re a highly overpaid tourist attraction- I have to say Charles is doing something special here Whether folks want to admit it or not this version of Charles and what he’s saying significant at this moment in time
His brother may be a pedo and the shames are not comparable, but Charles has humiliated the crown with this trip, too.
A teapot full of plucky barbs spicing up King Charles’s speech today. Ukraine Nature Religion or Not Tolerance War Overreach Human Rights Oversight/ Magna Carta
I'm sure that completely flew over Trump's head. He's likely asking: what happened in 1814. 🍊
King Charles literally 🔥 this one
We wish Trump was smart enough to understand this joke.
do it again my king
Gramps didn't get that King Charles was mocking him.
Don’t make me go all Dolly Madison on this old man
I'll bet that Bronzolini has absolutely no clue what King Charles means about 1814 & that the current corrupt US Regime continues to piss off the exact same country to the north that was involved in this redevelopment: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning...
The cheeky king is trolling pretty good! & I'm sure our village idiot doesn't get any of it!
I am watching .. Slow down King Charles the "sucking up" is bordering on undignified ..we understand the motive but we must not come off sounding too much like Neville Chamberlain groveling to a dictator.
He has completely ostracized his own brother but has a state dinner with trump? He could have just not come.
Oh ya gotta just LOVE that shot!🤣👍
All I can look at is the travesty that the King of England was forced to speak in front of the tackiest, most garish, classless imitation gold monstrosity that Trump conflates with wealth and elegance. Utterly humiliating!!
Oh man, CHARLES? CHARLES is scoring off us? Smdh.
And senile Satan has no fkng clue as to what that means. ZERO. But, what he did hear was the King making reference to the slob demolishing the East Wing AFTER he visited the King last Fall. That will burn his ass knowing the King thinks he is trying to copy him. 🤣
Goddamn. Shots fired in the White House.
Poms know how to sledge better than any.
He’s doing his job- charming the demented Mango Mussolini with his plummy accent and gentle humor. I’m sure King Charles hates doing it, but he’s devoted to his country, unlike our own buffoon.
This is the Correspondent's Dinner comedy we deserved.
Erm...that was the Canadians. Ask'em. They'll tell you ALLabout it.
Canadians did the job properly🍁
Nobody tops the Brits at snide humor. But the French are pretty good at it too.
I’m sure he has no idea what Charles was referring to. It’s not as though he’s a history buff. It’s not as though he knows any history at all, in fact
I guarantee Trump understands none of King Charles' references historical references. The man thinks airports were a viable target during the US Civil War.
...I'm annoyed at the laughter.
Gotta love that dry Brit sense of humor.
Nobody in Trumps admin will have the nerve to tell him exactly how hard he was trolled by King Charles.
Trump would not get that joke
There’s nothing like British humor and their double entendres.
Someone will have to explain it to Trump.
The last king to try to destroy the White House was a British king. Little did we know the next time would be an American wannabe king
They call it British dry wit for a reason.
Now the British are mocking the demolition of the White House, in the White House, during our anniversary year. Probably never thought we would continue their 1814 work. Great work Trump.
Canadians running up behind him after he said it “We doing this again? We’re down if you are?”
Dude.. you shouldn’t be here to begin with. Why schmooze with the orange monster.
I thought British humour was supposed to be funny. 🤔
Love that he made a point of saying that it was after the 🍊 🤡 made a visit to their castle. Trying to play king.
One might argue both the Brits in 1814 and donOld now have waged war against what is now our Republic. See the problem. This current attack is from within! Remove this treasonous sob from our WH now, #Congress.
and trump has absolutely no idea what he’s even talking about here
Destroying the white house is just so hilarious. Everyone in that room who laughed needs to be in prison for life.
Should have salted the earth afterwards
I will send a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love.
Charles’s has always been good at these things. I’m wondering if the audience got the joke
And Trump has no idea to what he is referring.
Sir, no one in that room knows what you're talking about.
When the Fucking King of England has to remind the POTUS of history of his own goddamn country. Classic Trump.
I am going to bet, trumpy has no idea what that is referencing.
For Charles this is the equivalent of giving someone the finger, directly in their face, and then kneeing them in the groin.
From what I’ve read about his speech, he stood up for following laws, Ukraine, and NATO. Very diplomatic and yet got his message across in a dignified British manner.
Trump has no idea what he’s talking about.
And Don the Con has no idea what happened in 1814.
lol the man is on a roll.
I love the idea that the sole purpose of his trip is to troll the idiot
Guarantee Melania (I really don't care) trump had no idea what the joke meant either...
The back of his head...like a bleach-blond, balding block of wood.
I am so disappointed the Charles graced the orange devil with a state visit, so pardon me if I don't laugh at his lame joke.
I'm surprised the felon didn't jump up and say, "Hey buddy, if it wasn't for us you would be speaking German and eating sauerkraut instead of spotted dick." Then again, I doubt he knew what Charles was referencing.
Not bad. Stick to the day job, but not bad.
Ok I gotta say, that was a good joke.
Trump's hair makes a round head square.
He should have told them how tacky it looks.
you know the US is fucked when even the brits are getting sick burns in
I didn’t realize I liked King Charles and probably wouldn’t really under normal circumstances. In this case though, he’s growing on me.
Trump might as well have been laughing at his own burps and farts ... ... he had absolutely no clue what King Charles meant. Absolutely none, whatsoever. He'll find someone to explain it to him later. (Me, under my breath ... good luck with that.)
King Charles at State Dinner: “You recently commented, Mr. President, that if it were not for the United States, European countries would be speaking German. Dare I say that if it wasn't for us, you'd be speaking French”
Never in my almost 54 years would I have thought I’d be rooting for the English king over the American president. What the actual fuck.
I also really appreciate this historical dig on the destruction of the East Wing & that a certain colony to the north was responsible for doing that exact same thing back in 1814. I'll bet most of the people in that room have no clue what King Charles is referring to. bsky.app/profile/acyn...
Burns like this will make Trump run for King of England in 2027.
It's really nice to see other leaders openly clapping back, to his face. The funny part is, if they say it with a smile, he'll just think it was a complicated compliment and laugh along. Anything more than two sentences has the same effect. Yes, Rest-of-the-World. It's that easy and that stupid.
Well, KC can say it but Trump will never understand because he never cracked a book in his life.
That’s a scalding burn from a British person I bet
Ha! And that went right over F47’s head. Right over.
He should have also said that Americans joined the war a long time after other allies and only when they were directly implicated
Oh hahahaha…. Subtle chuckles emanating from classy pursed mouths…. A joke about the elite ruling over serfs throughout the ages…. Giggle giggle giggle
I'll bet trump didn't get the joke.
He definitely had no idea what Charles was talking about. 😆
Did he serve the king hotdogs 🌭 & KFC ???
How about "if it wasn't for the Iroquois Confederacy, you'd be speaking French?"
I'm sure that went over well knowing his keen sense of humor
The king, unlike the American press, has a spine.
That joke went past PEDO prez dementia head. He doesn't know history.
So America would've been Canada. That doesn't sound so bad.
Any chance he'd take us back?
Someone will have to explain that to Trump later.
Someone will explain it to the pedofelon later on.
250 years later the King strikes back with good digs in his speech to Congress.
He’ll definitely not understand the reference
There is no way in hell Trump got that joke lol We’re talking about someone who stares at the sun, and doesn’t even know what a corner store is
If it wasnt for the french, we’d be under the King.
If only Trump knew some history! … But he doesn’t.
Pretty weak honestly when you realize the king took native french speakers from the Acadians and dispersed them across the US for not swearing fealty to the king. They didn't care what language was spoken and cared less about where they were sent in the Americas. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expulsi...
The man's got some balls that's for sure. I bet you the UK knew Trump was going to pressure the King to hand over Falklands for Milei. This, of course, pre-written speech was written to stick it to Trump, Vance and the GOP
That would fly way over Trumps head. Nice try though C.
You tell that sack of orange detritus, Your Royal Highness. He is pathetically ignorant of the history of the USA and totally ignorant of world history. You can lecture him and make intelligent points in the King’s English and he is so ignorant he doesn’t understand the world is laughing at him.
The King is on fire 🔥
I also really appreciate this historical dig on the destruction of the East Wing & that a certain colony to the north was responsible for doing that exact same thing back in 1814. I'll bet most of the people in that room have no clue what King Charles is referring to. bsky.app/profile/acyn...
Zero chance he knew what king was talking about.
The King is hilariously goofing on the fool of a Felon.
Just in case you are still wondering what he is referring to. "The attack was in part a retaliation for prior American actions in British-held Upper Canada..." Behold, the War of 1812 when the British Army came down from Canada in 1814 & burnt down the White House.
Which will make Trump feel his ignorance. He’ll be incensed.
King Charles jokes about Trump’s ballroom, invoking the famous burning of the White House. “I cannot help noticing the ‘readjustments’ to the East Wing … we British, of course, made our own attempt at real estate redevelopment of the White House in 1814.”
Comparing Trump to arson is apt, though.
Too bad Trump won't know what he is talking about.
LOL - no way Trump got the joke.
That was a kingly joke telling the world that he desecrated the White House in retaliation for losing 2020, much as the British troops did in retribution for the American wins in Ontario. Coming from a man who reveres historical buildings, it was a thinly veiled insult towards a petty tyrant.
What are we thinking about the King of England making jokes about burning down the White House? I may... not be over that just yet. At the same time, I do not think the White House's current occupant is keeping the place vested in the sort of dignity that makes me prickly about HRH's joke.
The King has good writers!
