President Trump told Iran to "get smart soon" and urged Tehran to sign a non-nuclear deal, saying "no more nice guy" about negotiations. Iran has amassed about 22,000 pounds of enriched uranium, roughly 11 tons, since the United States withdrew from the 2018 nuclear agreement. The 2015 JCPOA cut Iran's enriched uranium stockpile by about 98%, a reduction largely reversed after Washington's exit. That enlarged stockpile shortens any nuclear breakout timeline and makes Trump's push for a new non-nuclear deal a key flashpoint for U.S.-Iran tensions and regional security.
