Trump tells Iran to 'get smart' on nuclear deal
President Trump told Iran to 'get smart soon' and warned 'no more nice guy' while pushing Tehran to sign a non‑nuclear deal. Reporting notes Iran has amassed roughly 11 tons of enriched uranium, a stockpile far above previous monitored levels. That inventory shortens timelines to produce weapon‑grade fissile material and raises the diplomatic stakes for securing an agreement or pursuing tougher U.S. measures.
Media partially moving on from the Iran war—Correspondents Dinner! King Charles!—and markets taking it in stride feels almost like gaslighting. But what Trump broke he can't fix. Major economic disruption is already locked in and a deal isn't close. I've got a reality check on the war, in @ms.now:
The last ships that made it out of the Persian Gulf before Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz have reached their destination and unloaded. The global economy rests on the assumption more ships are coming, except this time they're not. The oil, gas, fertilizer, etc. supply shock is just starting.
The war thing is so yesterday. The oil and fertiliser markets have moved on. The UAE, freed from the constraints of OPEC, can now expand the production of oil it can’t export. Qatar is hard at work expanding North Field capacity for LNG it can’t move.
Great analysis! Yet I’ve been waiting for more focus on this, to help Americans. The only winners here are Russia - and US oil companies. “U.S. energy companies could make windfall profits, but for almost everyone else, this means higher prices.” We used to call this profiteering. Now, crickets.
Trump is playing 5 dimensional hopscotch. (Because he is insane) Just stating the obvious.
We are headed for an energy market shock if the current status quo holds

To think we slagged off Don't Look Up
"With Iran, Trump’s options are accepting a humiliating defeat or escalating, which could end up in a more costly humiliation. Not wanting to do either, he’s strung things along." Useful overview of where things are, especially the stuff about how Trump's pathologies are to blame for everything:
Same tactic he’s been using in court for decades.
One of the big lessons you learn playing sports -- or litigating cases -- is how to handle a big loss, get up off the ground, and keep going. For a narcissist, losses are simply unacceptable. And yet they still happen. And the rest of us will suffer for it.
Unfortunately for him, there is no Chapter 11 bankruptcy in foreign policy.
I am a bit at loss why anyone still thinks that there is rhyme and reason behind his actions. There is no strategy. There is only money grifting and stock manipulation.
It's not the Roberts Court, it's the Jim Crow Court! bsky.app/profile/mark...
In one sense T's pathologies are to blame for everything In another sense, Right Wing media--which are most media now--are to blame. Bc RWng media are the ones whose billionaire owners got voters to elect this pathological POTUS--on the basis of lies--bc they knew he'd cater to RWng billionaires

Krugman on How Trump Accidentally Screwed Himself on Iran As Trump continues to struggle with the Iran fiasco’s global economic fallout, Paul Krugman explains how Trump has boxed himself into a corner — and why it could soon get much worse for him.
The endlessly repeating story of Trump's life...
All Netanyahu was waiting for was an American President stupid enough to support an attack on Iran. Trump, over confident as a result of his “easy” capture of Maduro, didn’t understand what he was getting into
"𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒍, 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍, 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒑𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒑𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒂 𝒃𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒎𝒑." What is the power behind that collapse? It's not Trump. Is it Thiel?
And us. And the entire world. 😔
a must read. Trump only understands war in terms of violence and body counts. Not global economic collapse.
It wasn't an accident it was Trump's own hubris and incompetence. These idiots refuse to learn from +70 years of misadventures in the Middle East. We need to leave these people alone and finally cut Israel loose and let them stand on their own.
I wish he only screwed himself. He screwed the entire world. And he'll be the one who pays the least price for it.
Kinda hard to argue “accidentally” when this pud “writes” a book called the art of …. and ignores the art of war: The winning army realizes the conditions for victory first then fights The losing army fights first then seeks victory Might be able to convince me willful ignorance, MIGHT
Another one of these? At 4am?? (Also Iran def did know how to sign a nuclear deal in 2015 obviously)
I‘m confused 🤔 weren’t we just scolded about violent rhetoric?
We Had a perfectly good deal but because of his Obama derangement syndrome we don't. Why should they trust him. I know I wouldn't.
Iran should ask to speak with Obama. It might be just the thing to trigger that aneurysm we’re all trying to manifest.
The sooner everyone realizes he’s a sadist the better.
