National Bugs Bunny Day, April 30
April 30 marks the anniversary of Bugs Bunny's first big-screen appearance in Porky's Hare Hunt (1938). The rabbit evolved into his definitive persona in Tex Avery's A Wild Hare (1940), which introduced the "What's up, Doc?" catchphrase and regular voice work by Mel Blanc. For more than 80 years Warner Bros. Looney Tunes shorts, television syndication, and merchandising have made Bugs the studio's flagship character across generations. National Bugs Bunny Day spotlights those classic shorts and animation history, explaining why the character remains a touchstone of American comedy.
