Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods depart WWE
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have left WWE after their profiles were moved to the company's Alumni section following the April 24, 2026 post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts. The departures came alongside exits for JC Mateo and Tonga Loa as WWE trimmed its roster in the same wave. The exits remove two founding members of the New Day stable from WWE television and immediately free Kingston and Woods to pursue opportunities with other major promotions, reshaping the tag-team landscape.
Xavier Woods getting WWE to promote his non-WWE wrestling name for a decade on one of their platforms is one of the smartest ways a wrestler has set themselves up for post-WWE life. Beating out Alberto Del Rio telling the Spanish commentators to call him Alberto el Patron for months before he left.

New Day are really an all-timer team, taking what was a classic Vince “we’re giving you this to bury you” gimmick and turning it into a white hot act, which remained over despite multiple sabotage attempts.
John Lees4I was there live for the peak of KofiMania at WrestleMania 35 (admittedly the only person in New Jersey cheering for Bryan Danielson that evening), and the intensity of the love felt for Kofi and all the New Day was truly electric. This is a bigger loss for WWE than perhaps they know.

CaptainGrapeDrink8New Day is the first "100% yes" from the combined releases of both lists. Even more so than MCMG, IMO. - That is going to be a legitimate drawing power for AEW. But, if AEW grabs New Day, MCMG, (and maybe Cobb if they are feeling charitable). I think that's a great list.
