Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods depart WWE
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have left WWE amid the roster cuts announced after WrestleMania 42. JC Mateo and Tonga Loa also departed in the same round, and WWE moved Kingston and Woods into its Alumni section on Saturday. Their exit ends New Day's long run as a flagship WWE tag team that amassed multiple tag-team championship reigns and high-profile cross-brand appearances. Kingston and Woods' availability matters because top-tier signings could quickly reshape tag-team landscapes across other promotions.
Xavier Woods getting WWE to promote his non-WWE wrestling name for a decade on one of their platforms is one of the smartest ways a wrestler has set themselves up for post-WWE life. Beating out Alberto Del Rio telling the Spanish commentators to call him Alberto el Patron for months before he left.
Woods is one of the small few wrestlers working over there who isn't a brown nosing toad or a amoral jackhole. I do hope nothing comes out that changes that.
I hope he has the rights to UpUpDownDown (and LeftRightLeftRight). Would love to see him do a rerelease of the belts outside WWE.
There has never been a purer example of the heights WWE is capable of as a company with it's history and spectacle and how they always, without fail, absolutely fumble and waste the potential of those heights than Kofi Kingston winning the WWE title at Mania, then lose it to Brock in 3 seconds.
And also how BONE DEEP the racism at that company is Kofi winning was maybe the single best feel-good moment in the entire company since Bryan won the title at Mania 30, hugely popular, and it was actively forced to management by fans and Bryan, and they did absolutely nothing with him after he won
Not to mention the shit I've heard about Brock Lesnar... >_>
that was pretty much when I stopped watching WWE yeah
Still think about Kofi losing at Elimination Chamber and Xavier and Big E rushing the ring to tell him how proud they and the crowd are of him.
Imagine a pair of should-have-been-lifers like Kodi Kingston and Xavier Woods leaving WWE. Kinda crazy to me. 🤼
I’m wildin out Warren I love those guys
The phrasing in that headline is weird to me. Did they "mutually" agree to leave together or "mutually" agree with the company on their release?
Kofi is 45 and Woods 40 this year. Hurt Syndicate are dinosaurs, but we dont need the New Day, much like we didn't need the Hurt Syndicate.
I dunno if aew should sign them as already have huge and great roster. But u know bucks want that match and kenny great friends with xavier
Are there any of today's WWE releases you'd want to see in AEW or another promotion? *Kofi Kingston *Xavier Woods *Jeff Cobb (Mateo) *Tanga Loa (Tonga) *Any new announcements since this post? Why or why not? WOL Saturday 1p E/10a P @wonf4w.bsky.social YouTube Sports Byline #wrestlesky
100% New Day in AEW. Jeff Cobb's rep took a huge hit by being a WWE jobber. Tanga Loa, please no, not anywhere near AEW.
Kofi and Woods yes Cobb and Tonga no
New Day is the first "100% yes" from the combined releases of both lists. Even more so than MCMG, IMO. - That is going to be a legitimate drawing power for AEW. But, if AEW grabs New Day, MCMG, (and maybe Cobb if they are feeling charitable). I think that's a great list.
Woods to reunite him with Claudio and Chugs on the AEW Games channel.
New Day are gimmies for AEW. Cobb left New Japan VERY badly so I'm good with him cruising the indies a bit, assuming he keeps going.
New Day just because a lot of the aew talent seem excited about it
New Day in AEW is an absolute no-brainer. Out of all the releases, I am most excited about this duo potentially being in AEW.
New Day cause there are some dream matches for them in AEW. Plus they’d be a good addition to the tag division. I like Cobb, but feels like the time is kind of over. Maybe in ROH?
I would've begged for Cobb when he was still in NJPW. Now I'm thinking we full.
Kofi & Xavier in AEW is a no brainer imo Wouldn’t mind seeing Cobb in AEW, but think he might be a better fit in NJPW.
