The Devil Wears Prada 2 opens with $77M U.S. debut
The Devil Wears Prada 2, starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, opened to an estimated $77 million in the U.S. and Canada this weekend and roughly $234 million worldwide. The decades-later sequel reunites original cast members including Stanley Tucci and arrives 20 years after the 2006 film. Its robust opening, which topped the North American box office, shows that legacy-driven, fashion-focused releases can still generate major theatrical grosses outside blockbuster action franchises.
I tried going to a movie but it would have cost me fifty American dollars to see the devil wears Prada 2 and get a snack and I just couldn’t do that
Apparently the only way to make this affordable is to get a subscription of some sort but I see like two movies a year
Very important in prescient thread, though anecdotal it relates to everything going on. We are in a class war, those that can see a movie and those who cannot. Those that can afford healthcare and those that cannot. It’s related to white only fountains and black only fountains. And it’s not good
Luckily the movie theater in my hood has $7 tickets on Tuesdays, which is why I only ever see movies on Tuesdays.
The premise of "The Devil Wears Prada 2" is that in 2026 there's really no way to see Miranda Priestly as anything but a hero, which is pretty funny social commentary, I will admit
That stern bitch at least has an ethos. Something she believes in. That's more than most.
To be fair, a huge portion of the original movie's fanbase is made up of corporate bootlickers who already thought Miranda was the hero. Yes, Andy's boyfriend was a douchebag too. Yes there would be assholes defending her if she was a man. Neither of those things make her the hero character.
